RUNCIMAN CALLS FOR IMMEDIATE FUNDING FOR NEW NORTH GRENVILLE DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL
(Brockville) – On the eve of the opening of the next legislative session, Leeds & Grenville MPP and Leader of the Opposition Bob Runciman is again writing to Minister of Education Kathleen Wynne asking for funding to replace North Grenville District High School in Kemptville.
In his letter to Minister Wynne, the local MPP calls on the government “to make a clear statement immediately allocating funds for replacement of this school”.
The letter is a follow up to a similar open letter sent to Wynne is July which in part led to the Minister visiting the school in August.
The school, once called a “a complicated maze” by North Grenville fire chief Tim Bond, is the top priority of the Upper Canada District School Board on it’s “prohibitive to repair” school list.
MPP Runciman stated “The safety concerns and other structural deficiencies warrant the government to commit funds at once for the replacement of this school.”
“The election is over and parents, students, teachers and the community are asking what’s happening.” added Runciman. “As I said earlier this year, we want the commitment and we want it now.”
