CUT AND RUN DALTON SKIPS OFF WORK EARLY
PC MPP says lack of action, government scandals reason behind early end to session
(Queen’s Park) – Progressive Conservative House Leader Bob Runciman (Leeds-Grenville) today called the McGuinty Liberals’ decision to start their summer vacation early further proof that Ontario voters need to fire Dalton McGuinty
“If Dalton McGuinty is going to walk out of the Legislature early, he deserves to get his walking papers permanently,” said Runciman. “With the Legislature shutting down early, Dalton McGuinty is once again ducking accountability. There are questions that need to be asked and answers that need to be given.”
“Rather than deal with the very real challenges facing the province, Dalton McGuinty has opted for a photo op summer, handing out taxpayers dollars in a cynical attempt to buy votes,” charged the MPP.
Runciman pointed to the government’s lack of answers or a real plan for Ontario. While Dalton McGuinty starts his summer vacation three weeks early, Ontarians are still waiting for Dalton McGuinty provide:
- A comprehensive jobs plan to deal with the loss of 176,000 well paying manufacturing jobs since Dalton McGuinty came to office;
- A plan to reduce emissions and clean up Ontario’s air; and
- An explanation for why the government hasn’t done proper testing for lead in tap water.
“Perhaps most galling is that with the Legislature shutting down, Citizenship and Immigration Minister Mike Colle will no longer have to face the Estimates Committee to answer for the slush fund he has been running out of his Ministry,” said Runciman. “It’s clear that that’s the real reason Dalton McGuinty is running out the door.”
“This has been a session filled with scandal for the McGuinty Liberals. They have refused to provide answers and now they’re ducking the questions,” said Runciman. “Ontarians deserve better than this and John Tory will deliver. Come October, I believe the voters will have the opportunity to elect a real leader for Ontario – and it won’t be Dalton McGuinty.”
