MPP takes on role with Council of State Governments

(Brockville) - Leeds & Grenville MPP Bob Runciman has accepted a request from the Speaker of the Ontario Legislature to represent the Province as an ad hoc member of the Executive Committee of The Council of State Governments, Eastern Region.

The Council is made up of representatives from 17 jurisdictions, 11 states and 6 provinces and works with government leaders to improve decision-making, help prepare for the future, and encourage multi-government problem-solving and partnerships.

The principle responsibility of the Executive Committee is the oversight of policy committees dealing with agriculture, criminal justice, education, environment/energy, health, international trade and transportation.

“I’m looking forward to exchanging ideas with representatives of other governments, interacting and sharing solutions,” said the MPP who also serves as Opposition House Leader. “With the current cross-border challenges, this is a good opportunity to develop relationships and partnerships that can address shared interests and concerns.”
