MPP SAYS CATSCAN FUNDING CAN SAVE PRESCOTT LAB AND OTHER HEALTH SERVICES

(Queen’s Park) – Leeds Grenville MPP Bob Runciman today called on the provincial Minister of Health to provide the Brockville General Hospital with operational funding for its CATSCAN.

In his statement to the legislature, Runciman suggested that the provision of provincial funding for the CATSCAN would allow the hospital to re-visit recently announced cutbacks, including staff layoffs and the closure of the Prescott lab.

“The CATSCAN is providing a valuable service with widespread benefits that merit recognition by the Minister of Health,” said Runciman. “If this funding was made available, it would put the hospital on a much stronger financial footing and allow them to reconsider decisions the government’s lack of funding forced them to make,” he concluded.
