NORTHUMBERLAND CONCERNS NOT BEING HEARD – RUNCIMAN
(QUEEN'S PARK) – In the Ontario Legislature today, P.C. House Leader Bob Runciman questioned Premier Dalton McGuinty on whether or not Northumberland MPP Lou Rinaldi was making him aware of constituent concerns over last week’s Liberal budget.
Runciman used quotes appearing in Northumberland media outlets attacking the budget’s focus on Toronto to the detriment of rural Ontario, and MPP Rinaldi’s “defense of the indefensible”.
“Even lifelong Liberals like Gene Brahaney are angry, disappointed, and fed up,” charged Runciman. He suggested Rinaldi was towing the party line to the detriment of his constituents.
“Mr. McGuinty has put a headlock on Mr. Rinaldi and other Liberal backbenchers, and it demonstrates just how phoney their promises for democratic reform were, and how little they care for rural Ontario,” Runciman concluded.
