MINISTER ANSWERS MPP’S POND PLEA
(Toronto) – Leeds Grenville MPP Bob Runciman received a pleasant surprise last night during an evening sitting of the legislature, when Minister of Natural Resources, David Ramsay, advised him that the Westport Pond will retain its sanctuary status.
Runciman had raised the issue during yesterday’s Question Period drawing attention to the 50 year history of the sanctuary and its importance as a tourism draw to the Village of Westport.
“It was a nice surprise and I commend Minister Ramsay for responding quickly and positively,” said Runciman. “This is good news for Westport and the Rideau area,” Runciman concluded.
