BUY ONTARIO DRIVER’S LICENSE ON THE NET - RUNCIMAN

Toronto – Getting an Ontario driver’s license is as easy as a click, according to Conservative House Leader, Bob Runciman (M.P.P. Leeds-Grenville).

In the Legislature today, Runciman drew attention to a U.S.-based web site that sells fake documents, including Ontario drivers’ licenses. The Ontario license sells for $100 U.S. but is currently on sale for $90 U.S.

“This is a significant security concern”, said Runciman, Ontario’s former Public Security Minister. “A driver’s license is a foundation document and can be used to obtain other documents to establish a false identity.”

Liberal Minister of Transportation, Harinder Takhar, was unaware of the web site and resorted to political rhetoric rather than address the issue.

“It’s an alarming indication of the low priority the Liberal government has given security”, charged Runciman. “They clearly have no systems in place to protect the integrity of Ontario drivers’ licenses.”

Runciman called on the Liberal government to join with Federal and U.S. officials to shut down the web site.
