BUDGET AROUSES “SADNESS”
FOR LEEDS-GRENVILLE MPP
TORONTO - Budget Day, the
first by the McGuinty government, aroused a
strong emotion of sadness for Leeds-Grenville
MPP Bob Runciman.
“I feel a real sadness for the hard-working
men and women in my riding, many of whom voted
Liberal, who were caught by the deceit of the
Liberal government and will now pay the penalty,”
said Runciman.
In a statement in the Legislature Wednesday,
Runciman said the average income in his riding
is under $40,000. The new taxes imposed by the
McGuinty government will cost them nearly $1,000
per year.
“This combined with increased fees on
basic services and the de-listing of health
care services will make all Ontarians poorer,
especially low income families,” he said.
“By and large these are good people who
work hard to make ends meet, to stretch a dollar,
and now as a result of this McGuinty Liberal
betrayal called a budget, they will have to
dig deeper into their pockets to fund a Liberal
government that was elected on a platform of
falsehoods.”
Runciman added he also feels sadness because
so many of his Legislature colleagues were defeated
(in the last election) on the basis of false
promises.
