MARKETING
SUPPORT PROVIDED FOR BROCKVILLE FESTIVALS
BROCKVILLE _ Two of Brockville's
major summer festivals will receive $30,200 from
the Ministry of Tourism and Recreation to help
market their events, Bob Runciman, Leeds-Grenville
MPP, announced today.
Brockville's Riverfest which opens
tonight will receive $25,100 to defray costs of
marketing the event in major media in both Canada
and United States.
The Ontario government's Marketing
Partnership Program is designed to help organizers
advertise their events on a broader scale to help
attract tourists to their city.
In the past five years, Riverfest
has received more than $127,000 through this program.
A marketing grant of $5,100 was
awarded to the Race N' Taste Antique Boat Classic
held last weekend. The new event was extremely
successful and attracted visitors to Brockville
from far and wide.
"This marketing program has
been a very successful tool in helping to promote
Ontario's diversified tourism events," said
Runciman. "This funding helps festivals in
smaller centres reach a broader base of potential
visitors."
Each of these events are the product
of numerous partnerships within their communities
and the Ontario government, through its marketing
program, helps to contribute to their success.
When tourists are attracted to one area, often
many other regions of the province benefit.
