ONTARIO GOVERNMENT FUNDS HOSPITAL
RENOVATIONS
BROCKVILLE _ Much-needed repairs to the Providence
Continuing Care Centre _ St. Vincent de Paul
Hospital will be starting soon with the help
of a grant of up to $650,000 from the Ministry
of Health and Long Term Care, Bob Runciman,
Leeds-Grenville MPP, announced today.
While the hospital is slated for reconstruction
in the future, an engineering study listed several
deficiencies at the current site that needed
attention. These upgrades are estimated to cost
$1.3 million and the province has committed
to provide 50 per cent of the funding.
Runciman said these repairs are important to
maintain the integrity of the building and provide
a safe environment for patients and staff. He
said while there will be a reconstruction project
in the future, the current facility needs to
be kept in good repair to ensure effective operations.
Hospital administrator Mark Edmonds said: “This
is fabulous news for St. Vincent’s. This
funding is a great boost to our hospital.”
The upgrade program includes five different
projects and Edmonds says tenders will be called
soon and work will commence in the fall.
The upgrades involve:
• Replace roofing and flashing;
• Remove asbestos;
• Replace worn water piping;
• Replace kitchen exhaust system;
• Replace electrical switches that transfer
power between normal and emergency service.
