EVES GOVERNMENT INVESTS IN PATIENT CARE
BROCKVILLE – Leeds-Grenville MPP Bob
Runciman today announced $93,300 in operating
funding to expand services for patients at St.
Vincent de Paul Hospital.
“Every day we see the successes in our
health care system reflected in the dedication
of the highly professional medical staff who
work in our world class hospitals such as the
St. Vincent de Paul Hospital in Brockville,”
Eves said. “While our government recognizes
the importance of these medical professionals,
the federal government continues to ignore their
obligation to provide adequate funding to the
system.”
For the thousands of patients helped by the
St. Vincent de Paul Hospital this means improved
inpatient rehabilitation services.
The Eves government is spending a record $9.7
billion on hospitals - up from $7.2 billion
in 1995. Today’s announcement will result
in more medical and surgical care for approximately
6,000 Ontarians, including rehabilitation and
complex continuing care. Emergency departments
will be expanded to care for thousands of more
patients and some 15,000 more patients will
benefit from ambulatory care procedures, such
as day surgery, dialysis, MRIs and CT scans.
More health care funding announcements are
expected within the next few weeks, said Runciman.
