DOWNTOWN CELEBRATION GETS MARKETING
SUPPORT
BROCKVILLE - The Ministry of Tourism and Recreation provided $6,000 to help
Downtown Brockville market its Celebration of
Downtown Brockville event on Saturday, August
2. The money was provided under the ministry's
Event Marketing and Development Fund that was
set up to help municipalities counteract the
effects of SARS on tourism.
Bob Runciman, Leeds-Grenville MPP, said the
grant is one of the first approved under this
emergency program.
"Downtown Brockville has put together
an amazing event on short notice and this money
will allow the organization to broaden its marketing
efforts," said Runciman.
The event was planned to celebrate the completion
of the King Street reconstruction and improvement
program that started six years ago. The program
will allow visitors and even area residents
to see the improvements that have been made
and to rediscover the downtown core.
