CABINET MINISTERS ATTENDING RUNCIMAN EVENT

BROCKVILLE _ Three Ontario cabinet ministers are confirmed as guests for the 17th annual Afternoon in the Islands hosted by Leeds-Grenville MPP Bob Runciman on Saturday, August 16 at the Glen House Resort on the Thousand Islands Parkway.

Janet Ecker, Minister of Finance, Frank Klees, Minister of Transportation and Doug Galt, Chief Government Whip will greet guests at the popular fund-raiser that runs from 3 to 7 p.m.

This event is one of the most popular political fundraisers held in Ontario.

Entertainment will include the popular Ashton Hughes Steel Band of Ottawa, Gordie Tapp, comedian who starred on the TV show Hee Haw, and Heinz Schmuck.

Ottawa Senators' Singing Cop Lyndon Slewidge and Eddie Shack, one of the most colourful characters ever to play in the National Hockey League, will also be attending. Other guests are expected.

Short boat cruises will also be available

There is a lobster/beef buffet with servings at 5 and 7 p.m.
